"Absolutely loved this resort. Blew my expectations away! The beach, the pools, the spa and sauna, the room, even the lobby. Catalonia is connected to Mayan Adventures, which we used to book a Mayan tour and private snorkeling expeditions that were amazing and off the beaten paths open to the public. "Entire property was extremely well maintained, all staff were nice and helpful. Being able to visit other hotels within the Barcelo family is nice and offered the kids the ability to try different pools. Would highly recommend this property for any families. Only caveat, in the property description they don't mention the water park/surfing area is an extra charge, along with the bowling and some other activies. "We had an amazing family vacation. This is our seventh time staying in the Riviera Maya on many different properties and this vacation was by far for the best. This property has so many great things for whatever you wanna do during your vacation. Great location for excursions- no long travel time. I will say the rooms are very dated though, and the air conditioning was moldy and fan made noise but other than that it was a fabulous trip and will come back. "Lovely feel, grounds and staff plus a pretty stretch of beach. Earplugs are provided for road noise which seemed minor except aroun 5am."
