"A beautifully restored property in lovely Mérida. Off street Parking is just around the corner and plenty good restaurants and cafes within walking distance. We were in a standard double which was rather dark (likely good when weather is hot) so we lounged around by the pool when not out exploring. Bathroom drains can get a bit smelly from time to time but to be expected of a sympathetically restored historic building. "

"The staff were excellent - helpful and friendly. The hotel was nice and it had a “trust bar” where customer serve themselves and record their purchase in a book to settle at checkout. The room was clean and very spacious - but the shower was very weak and most days had no hot water. The area was convenient but the paving was very uneven and it was very dark at night. But it was safe and quiet."

It’s a beautiful boutique hotel at ground level so expect some traffic noise, if you are a light sleeper maybe you better look for a different option, for us it was not an issue and we enjoyed every minute we spent there. "In all of our years of traveling throughout Mexico. The Hotel Hacienda VIP was one of the nicest, well staffed, convenient, beautiful, well appointed, colonial hotels we've ever experienced. The entire staff and the owners were so personable, knowledgeable, kind, courteous and willing to help with any issues or questions. I have to single out Armando and Lucy.
