"Marriott needs to be SURE what is advertised on websites such as Expedia are correct for the Marriott properties. This hotel listed free shuttle within 10km. This was not true, after aksing at the front desk twice. It seems the van for this property was only for groups, or another way to make reservations however, I was told no. I was there for medical, and what seems like a small walk can be more challenging when you are 71 and in pain. Other than that, which was a rather big reason I choose the hotel, it was excellant. Also avoid staying on the 1st floor if you use ice, there is no ice on the 1st floor you must go to the main lobby and walk down to where the breakfast areas is, and that machine seemed to be out frequently. There was ice on the other floors, however your room key will only allow you to travel to the floor you are staying on, so no ice for the 1st floor."

"Hotel MID Project was a bit quirky, but all in all, clean and great spacious value for money. My "suite", all of $48US, was actually just a huge king bedded room, but featured a mammoth five-fixture bathroom area, with wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling travertine, a jetted soaking tub, and separate shower. Bed firm, room quiet midweek. Pool area was neat as well. Staff is panned in some reviews, but I found front desk agent helpful and hard working. Biggest quibble: Room had no hair dryer, so I had to leave my driver's license with front desk to get one. Location is on west side of historic center, about a 30 minute walk from Cathedral through a very pleasant residential area with some businesses. Very convenient to airport, as morning Uber ride to terminal took 11 minutes straight shot down main avenue. As Merida hotels have gotten pricey, this might be a nice value alternative for many travelers."
