"The area right now in San Antonio is undergoing construction. Even with all the construction in the area, we still had a great time. City walk is a must see, a boat tour or a bus tour is a must do. And for anyone who’s into history, there’s plenty of it."

"We liked the historic value of the property. Our room was really very beautiful with brick walls and industrial features. The only problem was it was the room under the lobby. Noisy all night with people talking and walking. The lobby was on the 4th floor and we were on the 3rd floor - right under the lobby. I hate that we were the "lucky" ones to get that room but I'll know better next time. "

"We stayed in the old house across the street from the Inn. This is also a historic property. We couldn't have had a more welcoming arrival, with a great personal tour of the property. The accommodation was a bit shabby in places, but if you embrace the history, it becomes part of the charm. Very cool period furniture, authentic ceiling and wall decoration. "I've always liked the historical Read House--- location, staff, history, etc. Our room looked recently renovated, updated and modern but with historical flair. From the doorman to the bartenders-- this place is classic old fashioned, hotelier."

"Absolutely beautiful and well run property with friendly helpful staff; however, the Monarch restaurant service and food quality is significantly below the quality of the hotel. We stayed there in hopes of not having to leave the hotel for a fully wonderful evening. Restaurant was very disappointing, so we left and drove to another restaurant for dinner. "
