It’s definitely an older hotel, historical site. We enjoyed our stay though and the staff were very friendly. We did have to cancel our credit card though because the day we got back from our trip our card had been used to put a deposit on someone else's room and no one could explain how that could happen. They corrected the issue right away though. We just deflect better canceling our card.

Our room seemed to be vacant for a while because floors were dusty, as well as the sheets on the beds. Toilet wouldn’t flush. We awoke to our smoke alarm going off randomly, and was confirmed to be broken by staff. After waking up to the alarm, we found a mass of fire ants in the bed and up the wall by the bed. My sister had been bit by them throughout the night. Staff was very responsive and quick to give us another room, however zero compensation, beyond the room change, was given to us. No refund for the night, and we were only given an extra hour past checkout to catch up on sleep. Very disappointing for the price.

The location was good! Close to River Walk and several other attractions. The staff were very friendly and helpful when issues arose.....which unfortunately they did. The streaming on the TV was terrible. Pretty much made it impossible to watch. The room did not have a shower curtain in the bathroom....they did put one in as soon as we requested one though. The hot water in the bathroom sink did not work...they were able to fix it however when we told them about it. The in room safe wouldn't open after it had been working. They were able yo get it open however after working on it for about a 1/2 hour and two trips to the room.

All the staff were very respectful. The only issue that I saw is there was only on street parking or Valet parking. Which I believe is too expensive. The guess should be able to park in the parking garage at no cost. I did experience a small water leak in my room and I was told there was not a service person on site at 6 am. I would recommend a service person to be on site 24 hours a day. They did come and fix it later that day while I was not there.

Beautiful lobby area and nice bar service. Staff was friendly. Onsite parking and staff were convenient and friendly. Rooms were not as pictured and have not been updated. Property’s firmness regarding early check in seemed to lack transparency. Would not stay again unless better options had no availability.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is very close to the riverwalk and in great location to walk to places. The hotel room could’ve been cleaner and the air conditioning stopped working twice however, they took of the issue in a timely manner.

We stayed at River Plaza Hotel from January 29-31 for our son’s BMT graduation. While our experience had both positives and negatives, we feel it’s important to share our honest feedback. Cons: Check-in Experience: Unfortunately, our check-in experience with Nikki at the front desk was disappointing. She did not acknowledge us when we arrived, and when she finally did, her tone was unwelcoming and dismissive. She seemed rushed and took both mine and my father-in-law’s credit cards without realizing we had reserved two separate rooms. It was only after I asked about the keys that she checked the system and corrected the mistake. Her attitude was unprofessional, which was a shame as the front desk is the first impression of the hotel. Room Issues: Our bathroom had a very strong fresh paint smell, which was overwhelming. Additionally, our room was missing a fridge, though thankfully, my in-laws had one in their room that we were able to use. Pros: Exceptional Service at the Bar: Maria at the bar was amazing! She was warm, welcoming, and provided excellent service. She made great cocktail recommendations and truly turned our impression of the hotel around with her kindness and professionalism. Management Follow-Up: The day after check-in, I spoke with Anthony, the manager, about our concerns. He seemed sincere and assured me that steps would be taken to improve the check-in experience for future guests. Great Location: The hotel’s location on the River Walk was perfect.

Immediately upon arrival no one greeted or acknowledged me. There were 3 representatives at the front desk, only one was helping someone. Not a good introduction. Next by the time I got to my room i discovered ant crawling everywhere. I tried to call front desk multiple times but no answer. I went to front desk and no one tobe found. This was not my favorite Hotel in San Antonio and I will not be returning here after this experience.
