"The Sands is a gem in the Bird Rock area of La Jolla. The location is great with it being block from the ocean and down the street from anything you may need for food, drinks, etc. The employees are awesome and I look forward to my next stay."

"This place is truly a hidden gem! We celebrated my husband's birthday here, and it made the occasion incredibly special. Despite considering cancellation after reading some reviews, everything exceeded our expectations once we arrived. Parking was a breeze, thanks to the convenient garage available. Upon entering, we were warmly welcomed by Amelia at the front desk, whose sincerity and friendliness set a wonderful tone for our stay. She provided us with a map of the property, offered us water, and gave us directions to our room. Shortly after, we received a text encouraging us to reach out if we encountered any issues during our stay. Walking to our beachfront room, we admired a stunning aquarium in the lobby, along with a couple of outdoor table games to enjoy. The room itself was lovely, though we noticed a bit of bird droppings on the balcony, which is to be expected near the beach. The soothing sound of the waves was incredibly calming, and beach access was just one floor down through the gate. The restaurant was fantastic as well! Our server provided excellent customer service, and the food was delicious. They even offered a coloring sheet for my son, which he loved. It was hard to leave this hotel, and I wish we could have stayed longer. During checkout, they kindly offered bottled water for the road, making the process smooth and easy. * If you prefer alternatives to the restaurant, there are plenty of food options just a short walk away on Avenida de la Playa. "

"The resort is due for a renovation. Some of the furniture is worn. Staff, food and facilities were great. Proximity to Torrey Pines a big plus."

"Stayed for a business trip. Easiest check in and earlier than posted time. Courteous and helpful staff. Very clean rooms, and comfortable beds. Quiet unless your room faces street. Outdoor pool and small but beautiful hotel. I’ll stay again when I visit. "
