"Tofo was super dirty, garbage in the room, used tampons under the bed, the bathroom was terribly dirty, there was no toilet paper. Additionally, the area where the hostel is located was dirty, and looked dangerous. I do not recommend staying at this hostel. It's cheap but I wouldn't stay here again."

"The steps going in are a bit rough and a closer bathroom would be nice the bathroom was on a different floor from where my room was."

"Love to stay at HI SD DT Hostel as it's prime location in Gaslamp makes this stay an excellent value. The staff and guests are very friendly and adaptive. The artistic interior is VERY SELFIE and photo-worthy."

"Quiet, cheap, clean hostel with good staff. Just gotta fix the elevator. Good kitchen and laundry. Comfortable bed but creaky springs every time you roll over. A convenient location for transport around the city. One block from Union Square. I would stay here again. ps: Lime scooters won’t make it up the hill."

"This was my first time staying in a hostel and I can only hope that all my future hostel experiences are like this one! The rooms, bathrooms, and showers were super clean. I also really liked how the bathrooms were individual and not stalls, so it did give a bit of privacy. It’s in a very walkable area but there is also public transportation very close by. Definitely recommend this hotel."

"LOVE the centralized location of this place on one of the main strips in Ocean Beach! Had no reason to leave the area as everything was in walking distance with plenty of spots for food, drinks and the beach close down the street! Definitely interested in staying at this place in the future! "

"my first hostel. beautiful modern high tech renovation. patio and pool beautiful. dishwasher didn’t work. water, cube, crushed frig dispenser didn’t work. no wash cloths. my bed was on the floor not on std frame so difficult for a senior with bad leg to get out of. no small trash can in room. no wall bar near toilet. shower doors broken. shared bath not good for seniors. overall the place is perfect for young, tech savvy people. seniors really need private bath. toilet filled high with...
