"Loved the hotel, welcomed by very personable and kind doormen who were so friendly and attentive throughout our whole stay. The room was lovely and very spacious! Pool was busy but still nice! The location was also great, which a short walk over the river into the centre of York and the hotel was a perfect get away from the busy streets after a day walking around. "Decent enough place to stay. Showing it's age in places but overall clean and tidy. Staff were friendly. Easy to check in, and I set off early the following morning - leaving the keys in the box in the hallway. Very convenient for the town centre and seafront if you don't mind a few minutes walk. Variety of restaurants nearby, even before you reach the town centre."

"I have stayed at The Royal many times and even got married here. Absolutely love the place, stuff are fantastic, we stayed in a room on 3rd floor for a very good rate and it was lovely, spacious and clean. "
