Kyoto Brighton Hotel

4.5 star property
9.6 out of 10, Exceptional, (1045)
"The location is in a residential area but walkable to nearby Imperial palace. Taxis are always available. The dining options are fine but more toward the higher price. We came during winter month so a little chilly during our walks. The hotel has good amenities in the room, replenish water, tea and coffee. There is a nearby 7-11 if you crave for snacks. Staff is polite, communicate well in English. I wish that the hotel had a spa or onsen."

Kyoto Guesthouse Roujiya

2.5 star property
8.4 out of 10, Very Good, (31)
"Good place to stay just for sleeping if you’re out all day. Close proximity to Nijo Castle however best to take a bike from the hostel starting from 500 yen to travel around as trains and buses do get crowded during peak season. Beds are average and room is nothing particularly special. Bathrooms are clean and common area is nice. Make sure to make your own bed and remove sheets before checking out. Staff are friendly and helpful when required assistance. Overall a good place to stay,...

Matsui Honkan

4.0 star property
9.4 out of 10, Exceptional, (210)
"Basic ryokan situated in the heart of Kyoto, perfect location with lots around. However, the room was not the cleanest. We found a messy, unfolded duvet thrown in the closet and a few strands of hair in the bedding. Assuming the duvet was used by the previous guest and not folded by housekeeping after guests checked out."
