The Screen

4.0 star property
9.2 out of 10, Wonderful, (243)
"10/10 beautiful boutique hotel. Stayed for 2d1n with my partner. The room was amazing, great overall mix of modern/traditional design. We stayed in the red themed room which was randomly assigned I believe based on availability. The room amenities were fabulous, with even his/her loungewear/pj's and bathrobes for our use that were actually really comfortable. The bed was amazing, the pillows were flat but I guess that's just the standard preference in Japan. The in room jacuzzi/hot tub was...

Kyoto Guesthouse Roujiya

2.5 star property
8.4 out of 10, Very Good, (31)
"Good place to stay just for sleeping if you’re out all day. Close proximity to Nijo Castle however best to take a bike from the hostel starting from 500 yen to travel around as trains and buses do get crowded during peak season. Beds are average and room is nothing particularly special. Bathrooms are clean and common area is nice. Make sure to make your own bed and remove sheets before checking out. Staff are friendly and helpful when required assistance. Overall a good place to stay,...

Ryokan Kohro

3.5 star property
8.6 out of 10, Excellent, (311)
"Amazing ryokan stay in the heart of Kyoto; there’s a public bath you can try which is traditional and fun way to shower / bathe. When you check in they pour you tea and give you traditional sweet; they then go through breakfast times; breakfast in the room is amazing and must try. The set up of the beds was also done seamlessly and everyone was super courteous and polite - thank you for a great stay! "

Matsui Honkan

4.0 star property
9.4 out of 10, Exceptional, (210)
"Basic ryokan situated in the heart of Kyoto, perfect location with lots around. However, the room was not the cleanest. We found a messy, unfolded duvet thrown in the closet and a few strands of hair in the bedding. Assuming the duvet was used by the previous guest and not folded by housekeeping after guests checked out."

cotohouse kyonoyado

3.0 star property
10.0 out of 10, Exceptional, (5)
"The hotel was not only clean but also very spacious with living areas on the ground floor and sleeping space on the first floor. The kitchen was very well equiped with clear instructions for every appliance if you don't speak Japanese. The same could be said of the washer/dryer unit which was very easy to use. The staff at the hotel were extremely helpful and while they weren't on location all the time you could always get in touch with them with a quick message. Location was also great with...
