"We had a great stay. All staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel is clean and such a lovely building. Room was a squeeze to negotiate the entrance way and was a bit dark in certain places. Bathroom was compact but lovely - very nice toiletries provided. Pool area was spotless and had good facilities. Ideal location from station and only a short walk into the centre of York."

Our courtyard room is a bit noisy from other guests’ bathrooms, backs onto a private resident’s garden. No window views unless you stand and can see into their garden(!). "What a beautiful beautiful hotel great location not far from town gates. The staff at holgate were so friendly and helpful. The room was excellent very clean and just what we needed. Thought there might be a problem being on the main road. But did not here the traffic and the bed was so comfortable. Didn't gave the breakfast as we had breakfast in town. But would definitely stay here again. Well earned 5 stars all day long"
