"Traditional, mid-range hotel with a decent cooked breakfast included in the rate. Nice, traditional hotel bar and very reasonably priced. It’s laurel and hardy themed (hence the review title eh). 15 min walk from the city centre (walk to mickelgate and walk along the wall into town). "

"The single room was comfortable, clean and pleasant. It had tea making facilities, a hair drier and iron. The en suite was of a good size and private. The only draw back was the shower - it had little water pressure and the shower hose was a poor fit. I had a key to a separate entrance which gave me freedom to avoid the bar and flexibility to come and go."

"Liked size of bedrooms and bathrooms . Easy walk in shower for mild mobility problems . Good property to share with adult son in second room . Heating very responsive . Host kept in contact to check if any refills etc needed . Only downside for us are stairs access but there were good handrails . "

"We had a couple of nights stay in the New Inn and it was a lovely clean comfortable place. Great check in and access to a fridge, plates and cutlery if you need it. Chinese restaurant just a minute walk away which was really good. There was a fish and chip place too but unfortunately it was closed while we were staying. Would definitely recommend staying here though, nice safe friendly little village with a great community shop five minute walk away. "
