"A friend and I went for New years eve celebrations. The property is beautiful and there were a ton of Christmas lights just outside our balcony. Pros: Clean, comfy bed, great breakfast buffet in the restaurant included, friendly staff. Cons: There is a gas fireplace which is the ONLY SOURCE OF HEAT. Our room was freezing from about 3pm - 1am. The bathroom floor is tile and freezing. "

"Inside the hotel provided a nice Victorian feel. However, outside the hotel there is a lot of homelessness around the entire downtown area (not just limited to this hotel). As long as you are aware of this, it's a great place to stay. We still walked around outside the hotel as there are many places to eat nearby, within walking distance. "

"We love the Benson and usually stay there when visiting Portland. The beds are so comfortable and the bedding is soft & luxurious. The historic hotel is beautiful. The only problem on this trip that it was that it was freezing cold in the lobby and would like to sit there and enjoy the fireplace and Christmas tree. It’s never been like that before and it was disappointing not to be able to hang out there and enjoy the atmosphere"

"My stay was good. I wish they offered larger rooms for people traveling with large dog. The space was small for my large dog and I. The outdoor courtyard was nice, but there was no flat grass area to go do their business. Going outside at night so my dog can relieve himself is not very safe in that area. "
