"This place is a very old traditional house. It’s really unique. I couldn’t fault it. Maybe the only thing I would say was it was a little hot in the room. But I guess this is Japanese summer. Our room was on top floor with high ceiling. So it couldn’t be helped. The price is excellent, it’s clean and traditional. What more could you want?"

Can choose to sleep on beds or tatami as there are plenty extra mattresses. Supermarket within 5-min walk. The owners greeted us warmly when check in and stayed connected during our stay. Everything is fine — would have been perfect if there is a television."

"Good place to stay just for sleeping if you’re out all day. Close proximity to Nijo Castle however best to take a bike from the hostel starting from 500 yen to travel around as trains and buses do get crowded during peak season. Beds are average and room is nothing particularly special. Bathrooms are clean and common area is nice. Make sure to make your own bed and remove sheets before checking out. "A beautiful traditional house located in a lovely neighbourhood. It is very close to Sanjo-dori, Nijo-jo castle & Shibori museum. I found it very easy to get to Nishiki market as well as Nishijin textile centre from here. Even getting to Arashiyama was easy (35min approx). The house itself is charming. I got to stay in a ground floor room at the back of the house, which looked exactly as in the photos. It also had a small window on a floor level (which was interesting) looking into the inside...

"Basic ryokan situated in the heart of Kyoto, perfect location with lots around. However, the room was not the cleanest. We found a messy, unfolded duvet thrown in the closet and a few strands of hair in the bedding. Assuming the duvet was used by the previous guest and not folded by housekeeping after guests checked out."
