"This is an extremely well-priced option for a stay in Kyoto, in an accessible but quiet part of the city that is still close enough to be convenient, but far away from the maddening crowds. Great hostel facilities, clean, spacious, comfortable, with all the necessities well looked after, and completely functional. The guests were all very respectable and there are no unnecessary frills. Would much rather stay here than any chain business hotel. One note is that I'm a sento/onsen addict, and...

"This place was kind of hard to find and distinctly cobbled together but I wasn't expecting much anyway. Be warned, the stairs are very steep and scary. On the plus side, it is right next to a street full of good clubs and other night life just beside the stream. There's also a metric ton of shopping right there and the temple isn't too far a walk."
