They are accurate described as cabins because from the outside they have that appearance. However, inside everything is modern and up-to-date. "Loved our stay at Carmel River Inn. The staff was so kind and accommodating. They were very considerate of our dogs and have lots of small touches for dog owners. The room was comfortable and quite spacious. We were in the older cottage, no not one of the newly remodeled King ones, but it was still pleasant and we really enjoyed the stay. "

"My wife loved this place! She thought the rooms were well designed and crafted with quality...not the usual with a hotel. My take was that it was safe, comfortable, and clean. All the things that matter for me. I would add that across the street is the Wild Plum Cafe which has delicious pastries and breakfast. Get your free coffee at the hotel and your breakfast at the Wild Plum and be a happy camper!"

"Beds were amazingly comfortable. Couch not so much due to it being a pull out bed. Small frig but kept items cold just like large frig. Love it "

"The beds were comfortable, it had the normal motel 6 smell in room, cleaning lady was friendly and gave us clean sheets and such. Overall was a good stay! Close to a lot of the things we wanted to do as tourist-aquarium and fisherman wharf."

Our group of six people (three rooms) reserved for the Christmas Buffet, which was definitely overpriced for the price of $89 per person. Food was cold, and not very many options. More cafeteria style than an opulent buffet as advertised. All of us were extremely disappointed with the quality of the food and the cold ambiance of the room. "

"You have to keep in mind that you are staying at a historic hotel. It’s beautiful & has that old hotel feel, which I always love. The amenities are so so, but that is to be expected. With that being said the room I stayed in has all the comforts of home. It’s cozy & the water is hot :) I enjoy staying in places like this which may not be the same for everyone.
