"I originally planned to say at a ryokan, but since I'm traveling during busy season they traditional ones were all sold out. I stumbled upon this property, and I'm so glad I did. I would recommend this property to everyone staying in Hakone. It's central, but more than that it's gorgeous. The garden itself is beautiful with cherry blossoms (during season) and koi fish. There's a hike to the Mt Fuji view which we didn't do this time. The staff member Park was absolutely helpful - she drew us maps to help us get to the Hakone Ropeway, and she drew us a map to get to our shinkansen early morning when we were checking out. There's an area where you can pour yourself speciality coffee drinks and juices out of a machine. Also the onsen experience was wonderful! We went both days during our stay. The hotel also gives you pajamas to wear and all the amenities you could need per day! 10/10 would recommend this place!!!"

"Wow. This was amazing. I don’t know where to even begin. The ryokan was absolutely beautiful. Yes, like some other reviews said, it was a bit dated but honestly I’m totally ok with that as it keeps the tradition alive. There were tatami floors throughout the ryokan. You are provided a yukata to go to the various onsens. It’s a smaller ryokan with perhaps around 21 rooms or so and that really keeps things intimate. The staff were so friendly and kind. Even if their English was limited, they were super helpful and used Google Translate to make communication easier. There were so many private onsens you could try that were intimate and beautiful. My partner and I loved it. We also spent way too long in the message room, there some really high end massage chairs that made it difficult to leave. The food was also next level, especially in presentation. They change your tea for the day and at night for dinner. We loved it. "

"My husband and I had the most relaxing night at Gora Hanaougi. The staff were the most attentive and kind. The kaiseki dinner and the Japanese style breakfast were both outstanding, full of local ingredients. The onsen was obviously the highlight of the stay. The private onsen in our room was quite the experience. The room had open air onsen, so we could get fresh air, but it’s covered so even during the torrential rainfall, we could enjoy the hot bath while listening to the rain. All in all, the only regret that we have is that we could only stay for one night, and not more, as we were on a tight schedule in Japan.
