"Incredible hospitality and ryokan experience. Very traditional and a wonderful way to experience and appreciate Japan and Japanese culture (11th time here and have done ryokan before). Extensive kaiseki and some dishes you would never find on a restaurant menu. Place is extremely clean albeit showing a bit wear - and - tear with facilities. Do book private onsen outside. 10/10"

"The private onsen was amazing, refreshing, and relaxing. The 12 course breakfast and dinner was delicious. We stayed 2 nights and had the shabu shabu hot and crab dinner the next. The staff was superb. All our needs were met and exceeded customer service. The whole place was clean and quiet. Perfect for celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. This experience was a very memorable one. Thank upu Hakone Airu. We hope to be back again very soon. "

"The hotel was a beautiful building and right on the river which was excellent but it was the staff that made the place outstanding! Taylor was wonderful as he spoke English but everyone went out of their way to help and were so nice. "

"Loved it, so relaxing. Got the breakfast buffet and the dinner buffet both days - wow, very well fed and worth the price! Enjoyed walking in the garden in the morning and after dark with the lights. A very comfortable women-only onsen experience - I went three times in two days and I also got a nice reflexology massage booked just hours beforehand via a QR code in the room so the flexibility was excellent. Took advantage of free tea and coffee in the lobby around the clock and even grabbed a whisky at the bar one night. You could really check in, get into your robes and sandals, and never leave :) Although I did leave to visit an art museum and to ride the ropeway and the free shuttle from the hotel was super convenient to get me to both places (not so much for getting back though) "

"This ryokan is very conveniently located beside a bus stop, which makes transportation easy around the hakone area. They also have a shuttle bus to gora station. We had the room with private onsen, it was so amazing we were speechless! Our half board included kaiseki dinner with crab and japanese style breakfast, which are also 10/10. The whole experience was delicate, the service was attention to detail oriented. The only thing I wish they could improve would be the noise while dining, the sound of the staff walking and handling the plates, as well as one particular staff talking very loudly. "
