Kurama Onsen
2.5 star property
9.2 out of 10, Wonderful, (94)
"I have visited Japan several times a year for the last 20 years, working for a Japanese company, and have been to 7 other Onsens previously, ranging from basic to elegant, so do have a good frame of reference. I admittedly have high expectations, as I felt justified for $800/night, and was somewhat surprised when I arrived. "時間を気にせずチェックイン出来るし市街地から近いので良かったです!広くて、ちょっとしたゲームや充電器、オモチャのかつらなんかあったりして盛り上がりました。また京都に行くときはここを利用します。サービス重視の方は不向きだと思います。私にはかなり合っていました。また、いきます。ありがとうございました!"

Yumoto Onsen Oharasansou
3.0 star property
8.4 out of 10, Very Good, (132)
"The level of attention of their customer service by the staff to me and my girlfriend was amazing and in a way, heart warming. For example, they knew we liked to face the garden while eating so they setup the table that way. Another example is, they knew I loved boiled eggs so instead of asking every morning they prepared it for me. These little small attention to details and the kindness of the staff, the wonderful food, the beautiful scenery and amazing onsen made my trip unforgettable. "

Grand Fine Kyoto Okazaki
3.0 star property
8.0 out of 10, Very Good, (80)
"This was listed as adults only which I interpreted as no kids. I booked 7 nights and included the $2/day in-breakfast. It soon became clear this small and nice hotel was suitable for couples as well with not only daily rates but partial day rates; this apparently is fairly common in Japan with the "adults only" tag. The staff was not well versed in English, but all communications were successful. The staff was very kind and accommodating too. The room was very nice, comfortable, and well...
