"This was listed as adults only which I interpreted as no kids. I booked 7 nights and included the $2/day in-breakfast. It soon became clear this small and nice hotel was suitable for couples as well with not only daily rates but partial day rates; this apparently is fairly common in Japan with the "adults only" tag. "Kibune Hiroya turned out to be much older than expected. Room is tired looking and everything seemed old. However, service is super attentive and dinner is very very good, although we were disappointed that the rain kept us from dining over the river, kawadoko, which the town is famous for. Thankfully we were able to do it for breakfast and it was really an amazing experience."

"Nice spacious rooms. Rate 8/10 as unfortunately we couldn't find the wifi they provided. Host speaks little English and check-in is after 15.00 (left our bags there first). Ready bath and kitchen amenities, take Exit 6 at Demachiyanagi station and walk towards the main road (shrine rooftops), use the second temple gates. Recommended to use with "Keihan Kyoto-Osaka Day Passes" for subway line transportation directly from Osaka and other major stations on south and east Kyoto."
