"This was a very unique stay if you are looking for a very traditional experience. Food was multi-course and high level. Rooms were huge and peaceful. The place could convert their photography room to a kids playroom / nursing room as massage chair area is off limits to younger guests. Private and public onsen were on of the best. The hotel could use a bit updating for their in room amenities and bathroom. Drinks and outside food is not permitted. Meals are 2 hour experiences and you will be very full. "

"We had an incredible experience using the public onsens eating ate the delicious buffet with a various wonderful Japanese foods. It was so fun getting to dress in the kimonos they provided in a variety of colors and designs. Magical place overlooking the majestic beauty of lake Ashinoko. "

"Hakone is beautiful and so is this hotel. We loved the location as it was a 5 min walk from the train station, 7 min walk from the convenience store, and surrounded by gorgeous scenery. The staff was pleasant and no issues checking in, but there was one night when a group of older folks from the UK decided to turn the quiet seating area into a loud bar, drinking and being obnoxiously loud, and the staff were too shy to say anything. The rest of the guests were clearly irritated and displeased and most hot up and left. Other than this, the food was decent (we had the buffet breakfast and dinner included in our stay), the rooms were simple, but clean and spacious with a lovely mountain view, and the outdoor foot bath and private onsen were just great! I would return. Check out the pizza spot which is in walking distance, it was awesome. "
