"Love the hotel. It is an old building so it doesn't have the sterile environment that modern buildings have, but it has a charm that can't be beat. The bed wasn't very comfortable, though. I can overlook that in view of the charm, location, the hard work of the cleaning lady. I'd stay there again if I go back to San Juan. 15-minute walk to the port. 3-minute walk to the red gate and the path that leads below and around the fortress. "Absolutely wonderful stay at Hotel El Convento!! Fell in love with the courtyard and was so nice to have turn down service!! Only critique was there were issues with the elevator during our stay and it was the only one available. Not too bad doing stairs with only five floors, but as someone who has a handicapped family member, would want to make sure there were a couple of accessibility options to accessing the pool and terrace. Overall though we loved loved our stay and will return! "

"Beautiful staff, beach, clean rooms, nice continental breakfast, over all food was good. The beach bar was lovely but they need better tropical drink options. Main restaurant needs to made brighter. "

"Great hotel with a lot of outdoor space. Not great for a digital nomad who works a 9-5, but nice for a digital nomad who works freelance or for a couple hours at a time. Lush gardens, on-site brunch, easy walk to the beach and a lot of restaurants. Walgreens nearby. Was able to get a surfing class set up, and they have a masseuse. "

"We really loved this property. It is the last hotel/resort at the end of the road so it is super quiet. It was small, so no large crowds. The pool deck was full everyday but the pool was a little cold the last week of February so very few people used it. Pros: good service, food was decent (especially if you tipped the cook), huge rooms, huge bathrooms, great hot water/water pressure, clean resort. Very very very very quiet. Interesting nightly entertainment. Cons: Very hard to get...
