"Overall had a great stay at the Hotel Mariposa. It's a pretty clean place with decent rooms and nice amenities for a hotel at this price range. Service is exceptional. Ashley was super nice and very welcoming at the front desk and when I had an issue with my room safe the nice Australian guy fixed the issue immediately. All of the staff were friendly. 2 things to note: 1) they have a nice large hot tub but no pool in case you are looking for swimming 2) Parking is $25/nt but if you are flexible with the parking hours (8am-6pm) you can park on the street. Would recommend. "

"The room was great. It was quiet, clean and comfortable and we had a view of the pool and beach from our balcony. The pool got afternoon sun and was protected from the ocean wind. It was in the 50s-low 70s everyday but at the pool it felt more like 80. Plenty of food options at the hotel and in the immediate area. Would definitely return!"

"solid place if you are not looking for resort but just need basics. Very reasonable pricing for area. Parking can get a little tight sometimes. Staff seems genuinely interested in making sure you have a good stay."

"We have stayed at this hotel nearly every year since 2006!! It never disappoints. The staff are as kind, welcoming, and helpful as you will find anywhere. The location is walkable to everything in Santa Monica, yet for an extremely reasonable price. I hesitate to write such a positive review because the Gateway is like a best kept secret!! We will always come back. "
