"Rooms are dated but clean. Take a free parking disc otherwise there ia a charge for one at the hotel. You can purchase a permit in the hotel for street parking near the hotel. We booked early, so would've preferred a sea view room with long windows on the 1st floor . Great hotel if going to the spa theatre. "

"Great location with lots of cafes and shops right on the doorstep. Staff in hotel and restaurant very friendly and helpful. Bed very comfortable, quiet area and not much traffic around. Excellent gem of a hotel."

"Lovely hotel and staff. Location is great - in a safe residential area and walkable into the town. Our courtyard room is a bit noisy from other guests’ bathrooms, backs onto a private resident’s garden. No window views unless you stand and can see into their garden(!). Overall, a very nice hotel, comfortable."

"Had a lovely mini break at this hotel. Very clean and in an ideal location for walking to the city centre. Enjoyed our stay and parked locally. I am returning soon with my mum. One star chalked off as I expected our room to be cleaned and made up. One of the sheets had seen better days, had a tear in it. I won't be using the bar again, far too expensive! Those was my only grumbles but not put me off my return stay."

"Upon arrival surrounding was amazing, check in reception both staff were polite friendly helpful, room was amazing clean tidy very spaced out, outside seating was exceptionally comfortable, also short stroll to city centre "

"Great location wise and easy walk into the main town good size room, well decorated with well stocked mini bar 😊 Would recommend, only downside was we were in the room downstairs (basement) so view out of windows was not good. "

"Loved the unique features - a free snack pantry (sweets, drinks, fruit etc.), traditional record player in each room and records to pick and choose from, quirky but tasteful decorations. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Very comfortable, clean, spacious bedrooms and bathrooms with easy to use push button bath/shower (no trying to work out which knob or lever to push or pull!), very comfortable underfloor heating in the bathroom. Lovely, comfortable lounge and bar and excellent restaurant."

"Really lovely place. Staff can't do enough for you. Really convenient to walk into York and excellent value for money. The room was a good size and the bed was really comfortable. I did turn the radiator on in both the bathroom and bedroom as it got quite cold at night and it was lovely and snug. Only slight negative was being by the kitchen (room 2) and could hear the staff every morning. Others have mentioned being able to hear everything and i understand that due to the building being a grade...
