"If you are Japanese this is a very nice hotel with a hassle free self checkin. Avoid room 101 because you will be awaken whenever a guest on the upper floors drains their tub. If you hold a foreign passport look for another hotel. I will spare you the problems I had getting mine to them. Just look for a hotel with a human at the front desk. Good advice throughout Japan. "

"Stayed here on a Solo trip through Japan and it was the highlight of my trip. A taste of authentic, traditional Japan, with super welcoming hosts, delicious breakfasts, and a special and calming tea ceremony. The bath and the end of day was a great way to relax after! The location is in a less touristy area but still easily accessible by bus from Kyoto station. "This small hotel is perfect in every way. The room was surprisingly spacious relative to Japanese rooms, and the fall foliage from our balcony was lovely. But it was the sweetness of the staff that we will most remember. When an Uber failed to show, the manager came out and hailed a taxi for us.
