"We were two moms with two kids (11 and 16) and this hotel checked all the boxes for us. Adventure (horseback riding, nature walks, water slides), nature (everywhere) and relaxation (hot springs, hammock, nice dining). Everyone on staff was super nice and welcoming and so were the other guests. It's a little remote but it made us feel like we were sometimes staying by ourselves in the rainforest. Our favorite place when we visited CR!"

"We had the best time for our honeymoon at Hotel Belmar! They treated us whenever they could. The staff were so friendly and helpful at every turn and every member of staff seemed to know everyone's name. We took advantage of the onsite experiences by having a couple's massage, doing the night walk, swimming in the lake, using the whirlpool, free beer tasting and excellent food from the restaurant."

"Beautiful, well maintained grounds and excellent service. Every encounter with the staff from the reception desk, to the restaurant and hotel room was a pleasant experience. We travelled with families and rented three premium treehouse and all kids and adults loved it. Waking up to the sound of tweeting birds was the best good morning. We loved the peace and quiet and did not mind that it was 25 mins from La Fortuna or took longer to get to Arenal area. The free breakfast was delicious and lunch dinner (same menu) were generous portions. Will definitely come back again. We saw three sloths near the petting zoo and another in the hiking area. This was hands down our favorite hotel"

"Warm welcome by the owners Lelo, Juana, Beatriz and Natalia who were very nice, kind, helpful and professional. Our cabin was clean, lovely, spacious with a balcony overlooking the mountains. The lush gardens were fantastic. They offer laundry service at $5/kg, assigned free parking, pool with mineral spring water, strong WiFi, delicious breakfast from 7-9am and dinner at 6pm. The dirt road from the highway to the lodge was rather lengthy. Great job and thanks. Highly recommended!"

"The food from the restaurant was excellent and reasonable. Staff was helpful. The grounds were fun to walk around on. Saw just a few birds but good birds. Visited in April."

"There were howler monkeys outside in our first morning when we arrived. We also saw scarlet macaws both mornings we were there and the breakfast was nice and convenient to start the day with. The staff were very friendly and very helpful in planning tours for the days."

"Great hotel for a great price. One of the few hotels I’ve stayed in where the pictures do not do it justice, the view from our mountain suite was amazing. The room was clean, spacious, and secure. The room doesn’t have A/C which threw us off at first but this is typical for the area as the cool mountain wind was more than enough for a comfortable stay with the windows cracked. The area around the hotel is surrounded by forest so it was extremely quiet and relaxing, calm enough even to see some wildlife roaming freely through the property. The overall decor of the room and common areas was extremely beautiful. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, specifically the gentleman at the front desk and the gentleman that kept the bar in the evening and served us breakfast in the morning. I can’t recommend this place enough. We wished we had time to stay here longer but we will definitely be back!"

I forgot my phone at the car rental counter at San Jose airport and I can’t thank James enough for all his help in calling the necessary authorities to get my phone back. Rooms were clean, bed comfortable, bathroom amenities basic. Breakfast was good. "
