"We’ve just finished 7 wonderful and relaxing days here. First and foremost the staff here are kind, friendly, and accommodating. The campus as a whole is lush and well cared for. There is a never ending variety of birds to see and hear. A group of howler monkeys spend a significant amount of time each day around the wooden viewing bridge. We heard their haunting calls almost every evening and morning. While hard to find we did see a sloth near the same bridge on our first full day here. You truly do feel at the edge of if not in the rainforest. While the facilities are showing some age in a few spots they are aging gracefully. Each cabin is surrounded by tropical plants and feels immediately connected with nature. Early mornings on the porch hammock were wonderful. The hot springs are more warm than hot and felt good after a day of hiking or visiting La Fortuna (25 minute drive away). There is also a natural cold pool with water slide. We enjoyed going back and forth between the refreshing cold pool and the thermal springs. One minor annoyance was the occasional smell of sewage around the outside of the cabins. This must be tough to control in a remote tropical environment. As we expected the rainforest is very wet. It absolutely poured every afternoon. We found this refreshing after the hot and humid morning and early afternoon. In summary our family looks forward to visiting again someday!"

"This is luxury, from the lavender scented hand towel and ginger lemonade upon arrival to the included yoga class. What a beautiful place and 5 star service. When we were there the hot tub was being renovated so that was unfortunate and we had a room below the restaurant which was quite loud during dinner service. I would avoid those rooms if you have children who need to sleep early. "

"I had a great experience. Everyone I interacted with was very friendly and helpful. I walked almost everywhere, from the cloud forest to a coffee farm (Café La Bella Tica, highly recommended), to the downtown Santa Elena area. I like walking, so the location was fine for me (I averaged about 10.5 miles per day). They have one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. It starts with fresh fruit (banana, pineapple and guava), and then you have a choice of 4 options: a traditional Costa Rican breakfast, pancakes, toast and eggs, or huevos rancheros. I didn't have the toast, but everything else was exceptional. The restaurant was also very good. I highly recommend the grilled chicken with black pepper sauce or the grilled sea bass. The facilities are well-maintained and clean. While I was there, they were repainting the walls along the walkway and they tended to the grounds (bush and tree trimming, mowing, etc). They cleaned my room when I asked them to and avoided it when I asked them not to. I could not have had a better experience. I highly recommend the Trapp Family Lodge."

"A million dollar view right on the ocean. The sound of the waves is amazing, and we felt very welcome and safe. The property owner had wonderful local recommendations and was prompt responding to any concerns. Highly recommend!"
