"There were howler monkeys outside in our first morning when we arrived. We also saw scarlet macaws both mornings we were there and the breakfast was nice and convenient to start the day with. The staff were very friendly and very helpful in planning tours for the days."

"Great hotel for a great price. One of the few hotels I’ve stayed in where the pictures do not do it justice, the view from our mountain suite was amazing. The room was clean, spacious, and secure. The room doesn’t have A/C which threw us off at first but this is typical for the area as the cool mountain wind was more than enough for a comfortable stay with the windows cracked. The area around the hotel is surrounded by forest so it was extremely quiet and relaxing, calm enough even to see some wildlife roaming freely through the property. The overall decor of the room and common areas was extremely beautiful. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, specifically the gentleman at the front desk and the gentleman that kept the bar in the evening and served us breakfast in the morning. I can’t recommend this place enough. We wished we had time to stay here longer but we will definitely be back!"

"We stayed one night upon arrival at this hotel. Clean, well maintained hotel. Front desk staff very helpful. I forgot my phone at the car rental counter at San Jose airport and I can’t thank James enough for all his help in calling the necessary authorities to get my phone back. Rooms were clean, bed comfortable, bathroom amenities basic. Breakfast was good. "

"Don’t hesitate to stay at Hotel Belmar with your family. First time to Costa Rica and we wanted a hotel with a beautiful atmosphere- close to the cloud forests, clean and good food and drink. This is it- the hotel was even more beautiful on the inside than I expected. I love the small details like an actual tree to hold the sinks in the guest bathroom area. Our room was one of the basic ones on the first floor in the main lodge and it did not disappoint. The most helpful part was that the entire staff was so kind and going the extra mile. It made everything else very easy. We really enjoyed the yoga classes as well. Even kids are welcome at yoga! We booked a Guide through hotel belmar and saw monkeys and other animals in the nearby cloud forest and also did the El Tigre waterfall hike as recommended by the staff. It did not disappoint love riding horses up the steep hills. We slept soundly every night and could not have asked for a better start to our trip. Don’t forget to ask the hotel to arrange pick up at San Jose or Liberia airport for you. It was reasonable at about $200 And much better than driving those windy Mountain roads at night."

"What a hidden gem! Honestly, the photos don’t do this place justice, it’s even better in person. The vibe is pure Pura Vida from the moment you arrive. The staff are incredibly kind, upbeat, and genuinely welcoming. We only had breakfast and lunch at the hotel, and the food was great, but huge portions. A tip: before booking any activities outside, check with the hotel first. I really wish we had booked the chocolate tour! We did the cooking class and absolutely loved it — preparing and sharing comida de la abuela made for such a special and authentic experience. Thank you !"

"Pretty decent property quiet friendly staff "

"This resort is amazing and I wish I was back there now. We only stayed here 2 nights of our 8 night stay in Costa Rica, but it was our favorite. We have a family of 4 and we stayed in a deluxe treehouse which fit us nicely. The grounds are beautiful and walkable and the staff is friendly. We were able to see multiple sloths and plenty of other wildlife. One afternoon, my teenaged daughter accidently left her wallet (with cash) in the restaurant, but it was kept safe by the staff (Luis) until she realized her mistake and retrieved it. We took the night tour with Victor and thoroughly enjoyed it, and we appreciated his passion about farming and sustainability. Also, the coffee is amazing. We ate all of our meals here and the food was fresh and delicious (I would personally recommend the farm to table casado and the breakfast omelet). Overall we recommend this resort to anyone looking for a relaxing, quiet stay, close to nature with quality food and great staff."
