"We did not like the limited choice of eating places. There were 2 formal restaurants - no cafe or casual dining, all extremely expensive. In the Italian restaurant, the sides came at the same time as the appetisers, instead of with the Mains!!! There was no room service option. Luckily there was a small shop with frozen food which could be eaten in the room. Terrible kitchen design in room, need tk stand on a stool to get the crockery 😵‍💫"

"The Rusutsu Resort Hotel is a well-oiled machine - all the staff are polite, helpful and they are used to moving lots of people at once. Rooms are clean and reasonably large for Japan. The rooms and facilities are dated; it feels very 90s. Main areas could use a refresh, especially the carpeting in the hallways. Expect to have to walk a lot to get anywhere: to your room, to the ski locker, to restaurants, to the ski hill. Could be really noisy depending on your room’s proximity to the elevators...

I know the harsh winters can be hard in a property, but I would suggest they do some minor maintenance (wood paneling on private outdoor onsen area, rust on private porch railing, wallpaper in entrance area) to ensure this amazing hotel can stay around for a long time! "Exceptional hospitality, food, and amenities - It's a highlight of our trip. When we arrived at property, almost entire staff greeted us on the street by the entrance. Kaiseki meals were wonderful. The second floor recreation room was a happy place to be -Zen garden view, delicious snacks, drinks, and late night soup... The rooms were clean and spacious.
