"Welcomed with a warm greeting from the lovely lady who checked us in. Hotel was very clean. The room was ideal for 1 night. Only downside for me was a smell that was coming up through the sink plug hole smelt a bit like the drains which was not great when trying to sleep"

"Spacious, clean and warm room, with integral kitchen. Comfy bed, plenty of plugs for charging etc.Tv and wi-fi worked fine. Currently no food, as restaurant being refurbished, but plenty of places nearby, and can also cook in bedroom."

"Booked the property then saw the reviews so was abit nervous to go here with them all being bad but I can not fault our stay at all! Upon arrival the music was loud in the pub, we checked in and the manager took us out the back. We were in one of the self contained lodges in the courtyard and it was of a very high clean standard, as we arrived the heating was on. It was newly refurbished and it was done to a high standard. Only one fault, the is a gap between the bottom of the door and the floor...

"Having read some of the reviews, I approached my visit - particularly the guest who said that he would have rather slept in his car- but it was ok. It wasn't perfectly clean and the shower was a bit hit and miss (my son said the shower in hid room was great), but it was ok. Petfectly average, but not good value - my room was £125. The biggest issue was one of the windows in my room would've close so not ideal in November. Would I stay there again? No. It was over priced and too nany niggly...

"Nov 2024 - This is a very old pub, persevered very well and in keeping with it's original historic 656 year old design. Great food and drink selection and wonderful staff. With that in mind, it is a pub, and therefore very noisy until around 12am later at weekends. As it's old it's also very creaky, so expect to here residents walking to and from the bathroom / toilets. The rooms are what you'd expect in keeping with an old building and a little cold in winter.
