"The hotel itself was a very nice stay but there was only one restaurant around and some of the staff seemed incredibly mad that we didn't speak Japanese. We were prepared to use google translate as we did with every other hotel we stayed at during our trip but the second she saw we didn't speak Japanese, she pushed us off onto another employee. "I've stayed at 6 or 7 hostels between last year and this year. By far this Motomachi Yokohama Hostel is the cleanest. Facility is very new. Nothing is worn out or not repaired. The location is also amazing. It's on a high end shopping street with boutique fashion, jewery, pastery, grocery shops. Prices are not excessive. Yes, higher than Osaka but in returni get back higher level of comfort and convenience. "

"This hotel has bed bugs. I woke up with bites all over my body the ones on my arm swelled up the entire upper portion and weaped fluid. I had to cut my stay short. When I spoke to the lady at reception she said she would talk to the president about my refund then told me I would receive a full refund. I have tried reaching out to the hotel about that refund but have gotten no reply. I would recommend staying anywhere else"

"Good value. Hostels like this one are perfect for setting up a "base" when you do Tokyo AND other areas of Japan. Check the commute times with your district of interests, as this isn't Shinjuku. Everything worked out fine (100 yen to use the shower, 100 yens to use the laundromat)"

"Loved the guest house. The staff were amazing, especially Moka. She was very helpful and kind and the first evening she made us takoyaki. The only downside is that it's a bit far from downtown. However, with the subway nearly everywhere it's really accessible including Yokohama, so it wasn't that bad. The area is nice and quiet and very safe. I will definitely come back."
