I stayed for three nights at the grand prince hotel takanawa for a family vacation, and everything (room, breakfast, staff, transportation, etc) was outstanding except the old gentleman at the reception of the breakfast restaurant (zakuro) in shin takanawa. He was very controlling when he checked our room keys as we entered the restaurant, and did not even look at us when we exited the restaurant. However, he was very friendly with western customers who entered the restaurant right after us (we are from korea). We first thought we were being too sensitive and he was too busy, but it happened again the very next morning. Although food was a bit better in shin takanawa, but I would use the restaurant in takanawa if I stay there again.

The pillows and beddings are itchy. Womdering if there are bed bugs. So I Ironed the pillows and the beds and on 2nd night, itchiness was gone.

The rooms are spacious and clean. We only stayed one night so we didn’t get to enjoy much of the hotel. Note - there’s not much around the area but is close to Shinagawa station.

One word - joyless. Felt like you were far from the action, convenient for Shinagawa Sta, but room was tired, dated facilities, all the fitness stuff was in the neighbouring hotel and at extra cost. Breakfast was forgettablr, staff perfectly friendly but the whole experience was that of having stayed at a very tedious, functional conference in a non-descript business park.

Everyone was so lovely and polite, such a beautiful hotel, our stay was amazing for our first time in Japan! Such easy transport and food options were very close to the hotel and close networks to the city of Tokyo and beyond.

Excellent staff, I end up extend my stay for an extra day after 3 nights here. Staff was able to help me right away and help bring my luggage to the new room. Was able to do the vip access which grant me access to Prince Sakura hot whirlpool. Enjoyed my stay as the size of the rooms were quite big. Even though it’s older than Prince Sakura, the price differences and access to the same garden was the dealbreaker

Dislike: room thermostat was not working. We set temperature to 19 or 20 deg C but it kept showing ambient temp of 25-26 deg. We were too lazy to call maintenance so we just opened the window to cool the room even though it was winter. There was also an odour as u stepped into the room, smelled like toe jam/body odour, just by the entry way. Likes: within walking distance to shinagawa station. Highlight was u could eat breakfast at one of three outlets in both grand prince takanawa AND shin takanawa hotel (though the latter u would have to walk a bit via the back garden).
