Arashiyama Benkei

"It was a fantastic traditional experience. Made me feel very comfortable experiencing traditional hospitality. Was able to take advantage of a private Onsen."
Arashiyama Benkei

Suiran, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Kyoto

5.0 star property
9.0 out of 10, Wonderful, (150)
"Absolutely beautiful hotel. What I love the most is the private onsen in the room. It's in a semi-open space (not in the room, but under a roof kind of in the back balcony). The private onsen refills itself, and temperature regulated. It was amazing. Beautiful scenery, excellent staff, exceptional breakfast."

Ryotei Rangetsu

4.0 star property
9.6 out of 10, Exceptional, (262)
"Staff went far beyond what we expected. Every single person was always accommodating and helpful. The room was magnificent. In hindsight I think a regular tub would have been enough. The huge ceramic outside tub was beautiful, but being from California and drought conditions I felt guilty filling up the huge tub every night. Rhino Hotel Kyoto

2.0 star property
8.0 out of 10, Very Good, (13)
"The hotel rooms were the biggest we stayed in when we were in Japan and the staff were very helpful. The buffet breakfast was also excellent. The only downside was the location, which is a bit of a trek from the city centre."

Ryokan Yamazaki

3.0 star property
8.2 out of 10, Very Good, (574)
"Super unique experience off the beaten path to stay in a beautiful Ryokan. Would be great for a value with larger families, but be prepared to understand the busses or get a taxi, not a ton to do in the immediate area. On the other hand, staff was nice, limited but plenty of English with my terrible Japanese. Food was excellent and beautifully plated. Rooms were truly amazing, one of my favorite things on my travels."
