"Well I don't know where to start about Refugio, I can't recommend this place enough! The entire place was awesome from the moment we walked in. The facility was fun, cozy, welcoming, clean, safe and well maintained. Our room was clean, ready and had just the accommodations we needed. If you couldn't find it from pictures The front portion of Refugio is a restaurant and bar, then a coffee shop, and then in the back is a nice private area for the hotel. The real magic about this place though was...

"Shannon was an excellent host. Nice breakfast each morning sat above the pool area. Our bungalow was clean and comfortable with daily maid service. A few minutes walk to the lively town and beach where all the action of Tamarindo is going on. The pool was great to cool down and relax in the hammocks and day beds under the shade. The bungalows are an excellent small, homely oasis to chill out and escape the corporate world. We would stay again with Shannon and her lovely staff. "

"Pretty remote location about two hours from the airport. Roads are horrible or non existent. Nice pool. Electricity was out for 8 hours with no generator. Nice breakfast every morning. A couple of decent restaurants in walking distance , nothing fancy but food was good . Lola’s right on the beach and Gregarios. Only a three minute walk to the beach. Hosts were friendly, welcoming and informative. "

"Great small place to get away. Close to beach but will need to drive to get anywhere else. The on-site chef is AMAZING! Best 2 and 3 meals we ate while all over in CR for 2 weeks. Only downside is no A/C which made the nights a bit less comfortable in high summer."

"Overall a great stay. Excellent location with all amenities super close by. Easy parking included and a nice pool area. Rooms were very quiet with a very safe feel. There are no amenities with the room, but if you are looking for a room and quiet pool area it is perfect. I liked being off of the main beach yet close to it. Would recommend if you are not looking for a full service resort. We would stay again! "
