"Hirosawa was very welcoming but make sure you go to the right door! She took us to the room which was warm and looked comfortable, and made tea for us while explaining all about Nara (all the major temples/shopping etc are within a short walk). The ryokan facilities are relatively basic but that is probably the point of staying in one. The shower, however, was amazing and rarely have we slept in such comfortable beds. But the high point was the outstanding Japanese-style breakfast (costs extra)...
