"I want to start off by saying I had a nice visit, I did the half board option and the food was plentiful and very tasty. Lots of variety, the sushi was not good and their take on Western food isn't great but the Japanese food is awesome. 2 different Onsen areas that alternate gender daily so you can try both. "We loved staying at Shimaya. The family run ryokan is clean and has only a few rooms. This meant that it was easy to book the private hotel onsen as a family and, later, my daughter and I had the larger women's hotel onsen to ourselves.
