"It was a great place to stay. Traditional tatami floors. 10 minute walk to the ski slopes. We didn't use the shuttle bus at all. Easy walk to local restaurants and shopping. Staff were amazing and friendly. Very helpful and accommodating to our needs."

"A great location 15min walking distance to Jr Station. Very nice and clean. Plenty of drink bending machine, cup noodles and coin laundry downstairs. We skipped breakfast service and opted for outside instead. Thoroughly recommended. "

"This was great value for a hotel room right beside Nagano Station. I was surprised when entering the lobby by how nice the hotel was, since what I paid would have been for a budget hotel. The room was clean and had all the standard amenities. The staff were helpful with things like shipping our luggage and answering questions."

"It is self check in and there is a storage place for our luggage as we arrived around 1pm. This hotel is very close to the train station. There are lots of food options at the train station. Our room is kind of small for 2 adults with 2 luggage but we will manage. The room is clean. The staff are very helpful. "

"Chuoukan Shimizuya Ryokan is a historical building in a convenient location. It is a 10 minute walk to the famous Zenkōji Temple and only 1 minute from the locals' favourite ramen and tonkatsu. However, the highlight of this Ryokan are the hosts. They made every effort to make us feel welcome and comfortable, despite the language barrier. I strongly recommend staying at Chuoukan Shimizuya Ryokan if you value culture and coziness."
