Komatsuya Seki Onsen

2.5 star property
8.6 out of 10, Excellent, (4)
"I wish I could give more than 5 starts in every category. Yuki, Yukiko, and David were all incredible. I booked this thinking it would be a nice hotel/ryokan and left with tears of joy, warmth, and happiness. The team here was so hospitable that this is also an understatement. This is a small business so it doesn't feel corporate but as if you are in their home (in the best of ways). Beyond this, I haven't slept on a more comfortable bed and pillow in ages. The linens were so soft and crisp. I...

"Singaporean family of 6, hard to fault anything. Most staff can speak basic English and attention is rendered to all appopriately, young and old. Onsen has different pool and some are not just warm enough for young kids to soak and enjoy. Food great Sleep mattress is Beauty Rest, futon might be alittle too thin for me but good for all kids. "

hotel hanabun

3.0 star property
9.0 out of 10, Wonderful, (4)
"Hotel Hanabun was a great ryokan experience! It is nestled in the mountains offering a peaceful getaway from touristy/crowded areas. It had the best onsen water, even the locals went there to bathe! The hosts and staff are all friendly and accommodating to your needs. Google translate was necessary to communicate, but everyone is very patient. The food was incredibly delicious, and they use locally sourced, fresh ingredients. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy ryokan. "

Kofukan

3.0 star property
7.8 out of 10, Good, (34)
"I knew I wanted to snowboard at Lotte Arai Resort but I read that it was in a very small town and basically only the resort buildings so i picked this spot because they offered a free shuttle to the nearby mountains. (Not Lotte though its a 40 minute drive and I had to get a separate bus. It was very easy though and the owner was able to help me figure it all out. If you do that route bring cash, it costs 2,000 jpy one way). When I arrived from Tokyo it was a complete 360 in scenery. It was...

"Pros: 1. Location is super good as it’s close to the ski lift. 2. Bed is very comfy and room is big. 3. Breakfast is good! 4. Staff are in generally nice. Cons: 1. The front desk lady talks too fast! 2. No Yukata (bath robe) provided in the room even thou they have onsen (hot spring), that makes it hard to go to onsen. And the opening hour of the onsen is very limited, only form 4-9pm. 3. Room is kind of too hot and no control to adjust the air con or heat. 4. No socket in the washroom so...
