"As advertised and more! It was a shame we didn't have time to thoroughly explore their beautiful grounds and giftshop. I told my wife about the highly rated vegetation cafe and she said, "well I'm not a vegetarian.". Then she tried the tiny fresh baked loaf of sweet bread they kindly left in the fridge(perfect after volcano viewing snack), Then when I asked "How about now?". She replied "I think I might be a vegetarian!". Delicious! Thanks again for a wonderful stay!"

"The property exudes peace and tranquility in a cozy, yet expansive setting. The ‘neighborhood’ is as perfect as they get, with each of the houses occupying at least 3 acres, individually. Perfect view of Mauna Kea. Unpolluted night skies, on cloudless nights for glimpsing the vastness of our universe… up close and personal. The bed was quite comfortable. Only one disappointment: just a single burner hot plate for cooking. Catrinka is a gracious and considerate host. "

"My wife and I stayed here for a week while we explored Big Island. It was conveniently located so that we could explore most of the island without too much driving. The host Katie is very responsive and communicative. Her place comes with some extra nice to haves (laundry, beach towels/chairs, sunblock, etc). Would recommend staying here."

"Great yard and neighborhood for this vacation rental. However inside the rental needs a deep cleaning and new kitchen supplies. Even the potato peeler was broken. The nonstick pans were old and probably have the older unhealthy coating. The furniture on the decks was comfortable but the inside couch and chairs were not.we did enjoy our stay despite these things."

We enjoyed walking the property looking at the plants, birds, goats, chickens & view of the ocean. Our hosts had thoughtfully stocked the refrigerator with some staples that were helpful, including fresh eggs and some chocolates. The bed was comfortable and we enjoyed having breakfast on one of the two patios/decks. "

"The Thomas Guard house is a gem in Hilo. The location is perfect - not in the middle of the city but close enough to walk to local restaurants. The beautiful grounds, the waterfall, the river running through the backyard, they all added to the charm. The house is beautifully decorated and immaculately clean. Charlotte has thought of all the details to make this a wonderful place to stay. It was a perfect way to unwind from an otherwise busy life. "
