"The property is mall and cozy but intimate. There is a pool in the courtyard, a few chairs. Staff is kind, food is tasty and nicely plated. Room are very spacious with a living room sort of but maintaining the property needs some work. Such as walls and floors, sofa and chairs in room needs refurbishing or replacing as such are ripped and stained and it takes away from the overall ambiance. Housekeeping also needs some work especially the morning housekeeping staff who did a really poor job...

"This is a beautiful and well-designed hotel in a unique location next to the lake and jungle. The staff were attentive and thoughtful. The only downside was the dining options - the menus are international and expensive, and the remote location of the hotel makes it difficult to eat elsewhere. We would have preferred more local Sri Lankan options. However, the buffet breakfast was varied and impressive."

"I booked with them deluxe room with king bed ocean view, they tried to give me garden view and they were trying to convince me it is the best room in the hotel, my friend discovered that the room was garden view, when we told them, they took us to an ocean view room with with single beds, they tried to put the 2 beds togethers with 2 Matterses with 2 covers. I was so upset because they were trying to cheat me, I asked them for king bed or upgrade with king bed, they gave me the upgrade with king...

"We are at the end of our private tour of Sri Lanka. We booked all accom from Australia. The most consistent service issue across all accommodation regardless of price point or star rating is the inordinately slow service! Whether drinks or food slow service is endemic across Sri Lanka and unfortunately the cinnamon grand is no different. Staff always try to be helpful however this is the first hotel experience where staff seem unhappy. Just to be clear what we are talking about is the time taken...
