"Very Clean and efficient staff but too many high rise buildings close by"

"We stayed for two nights. ALL of the staff are BRILLIANT and looked after us really well. The room was spacious and the rain-shower incredible… probably the best I’ve had. The on-site Indian restaurant was excellent as was breakfast. Easy to walk around the area and just 5 minutes to Park Street for loads of good dining options. Wholeheartedly recommend Taj Samudra. "This is a beautiful traditional hotel with lots of memorabilia from famous people who have stayed there. It is spacious and comfortable with many choices of restaurants serving a variety of foods. The only downside is in wet weather many outdoor tables/seating aren’t usable. We particularly enjoyed the high tea and watching the criminal lowering of the flag at dusk. All staff members are courteous and friendly."

However, the food/drink service needs improving. Breakfast is great but do not go after 9am otherwise you'll have to wait 1h for coffee or water! We tried three of their restaurants so the experience was very strange. In the bakery I wasn't served and I needed my husband to get food (who was served...

"Great experience. I had 2 stays in Colombo one at the Jetwing Seven and a different hotel. My experience was so good I cancelled the other hotel and ended up booking the Jetwing for the duration of my stay. It’s a gem. Staff are exceptional. "
