"Nicely appointed home just outside of Ponta Delgada. Clean, and spacious with beautiful gardens. We were 2 couples on our first visit to Sao Miguel and the proximity to the airport and city gave us the perfect "home base" while traveling the beautiful island of Sao Miguel. "We traveled with a large group and this was the only home that could accommodate all 7 of us. The owners reside in an adjacent home on the property. They were there if we needed anything but did not intrude. We had access to a washing machine, and the home has a bathtub which several of us enjoyed. "We were more than happy to have discovered Vila Alegre in the countryside outside of Ponta Delgada. It was beautiful, peaceful, and an amazing place to have been our home base for 5 days in Sao Miguel. Antonio was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and willing to answer questions to help guide our itinerary while there. "Overall, the property is very spacious. The home is divided into 3 separate areas with different entries for each. The air conditioners did not work the entire time we were there. They stated they were waiting for a part they had ordered. The windows don’t have screens so you can open them but you get some flies. "The Blue House was a wonderful home away from home. From the many windows are beautiful views of the sea and coastline. The host welcomed us with a bottle of wine, local cheese and bread, and basics like eggs, butter etc… It is best to have a rental car as it is about a 20 min drive to the Ponta Delgada and the airport."

"Beautiful place and location on a one way street, a busy street, parking could be a problem. But we could always find a spot somewhere. The house had everything you would need. We found the top three steps of the stairs difficult for the 2 small children. Small grocery store right across the road, bakery up the road. Short walk to the ocean, fishing harbour, restaurants and shops We experienced 3 festival or celebrations in our week there. We would stay there again"

"A wonderful vacation home. There were 13 of us who stayed in a very spacious house. All the amenities that you could need and more. The pool and hot tub were very nice and well maintained. We rented the large van from the owners and were able to drive around the island easily. Thank you to the hosts for a very nice stay"

"This was a fantastic hotel and we would definitely come back! Location could not be better, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful, rooms are spacious and well kept up, and it has everything you need whether you’re staying in or going out exploring. Pros: - We were fresh off a red eye flight and were given a free room upgrade and early check in! - Location is super easy to access from the main highways but is still just a 5 minute walk from the center of Ribeira Grande. - Central location means you’re close to Ponta Delgada and it’s still easy to get to both sides of the island. - Staff are friendly and helpful. - Rooms are spacious, comfortable, and modern. - Shower water pressure is fantastic. - Free breakfast is a nice addition and has many options. - Great gym for a hotel, pools and sauna are fantastic. - Bed is comfortable (if you like a firm mattress). - Easy and ample parking Cons: - Food at breakfast is generally room temperature. - Rooms are not super sound proof. - Limited restaurant options in the immediate area and the hotel’s restaurant is expensive."
