"Many of the staff were related and they were extremely helpful and informative. I found Emmanuel particularly helpful.The location was good, both because of proximity to village of Santa Elena, and also because of the excellent restaurant on site. Emmanuel's sister cooked."

"We booked day-of after a change in plans and were just looking for a cheap and decent place to stay overnight. We were pleasantly surprised. This place is adorable. No frills, but the room and premises were clean, and staff was friendly and helpful. They served a delicious, made-to-order breakfast. No A/C wasn't a problem as the temperature dropped at night. Walkable to town for dinner and drinks. Check in and check out were easy. "

"Extremely disappointed with this property. Have been using Expedia for a long time and the first time i experienced a below par status hotel. Would not recommend this next step up from a hostel, and i had ugraded to the honeymoon suite when booking this property. First time ever I asked to see the room before payment was made at checkin. Several first for me on the Expedia booking site."

"Not the smoothest of steep roads up the hill but well worth it when you get there. Takes about ten minutes off the main road so not handy if you are heading in and out all the time but so secluded and quiet when you are there. The view alone is worth the effort. The spacious room was more than adequate. "

"The shower's hot water is not strong enough, so you need to turn the water volume way down to have a decent temperature shower. The room sound insulation is very poor and you can easily hear the tv from next room. The room service is ok, and the bed was not set every day."

"I can say enough about how wonderful this property is. Werner and Carlos are fantastic hosts who were knowledgeable about everything in the area. They helped us make reservations and pointed us in the direction of great places. The room was large and comfortable with a large soaking tub and rain shower. The deck had a beautiful view,nice pool and visiting toucans. The breakfast made by Carlos was 5 star worthy!! I highly recommend this property! "

" This is one of those really special places that makes you sad to leave and wanting to return. The bungalows are simple yet really well thought out. There are special touches like fresh cut foliage in the bathroom and lots of surfaces to place your belongings. "Beautiful boutique hotel. Only 6 rooms. each individually decorated . Owner chef welcoming and very personable. Amazing tasting meal available as well as regular menu. Enjoy the included family style breakfast (for hotel guests only) while you watch Toucans at the feeders. Highly recommend stopping at Gingerbred!"

"Dirty hostel. Disrty pillow cases, musty rooms, slippery grated floors outsude to get in, no handicap entrances, very limited breakfast hours of 1.5 hours 6:20am-7:30am only. Flught was delayed in NYC due to flooding so we didn't get there until 2 days later and no one was on the premises- had ro go next door to another hotel to get someone to call that bed and breakfast. "

"So it’s not easy to drive here. Somehow Waze took us on a gravel road for miles it wasn’t easy to drive. So just make sure you get directions on the pave road. It’s beautiful and serenity kicks in. The manager is extremely nice and his dog is the best! "

"Always a great stay at Arenal Manoa. Their new hot springs section at the main pool is simply gorgeous. It is set in the natural forest landscape and the pools are lovely and have friendly bar service. The prices reflect this new big addition but it is still worth it. "

"This resort is very well kept and nestled in the forest. Our back patio in our private casita looked out at the forest and we saw monkeys in the trees in the morning. The massage area is so relaxing while in a private area overlooking the forest. The dining area has really good food. The staff is really nice. The pool area is very relaxing with a swim up bar. Very relaxing and beautiful all around. "

"Had an excellent stay here in November for our honeymoon. Check in was friendly and we were greeted with cool towels and a cold drink which was lovely after a long drive. The hotel has incredible value with thermal spa. Our room was beautiful and clean. We enjoyed the breakfast every morning at the on site restaurant, one thing I will note is that there were not a lot of vegan options for breakfast and the espresso machine did not have a non dairy option. However, the servers were very accommodating and made me a separate coffee and got me avocado so I could make avocado toast which was very nice. We also really enjoyed having dinner at the restaurant at the thermal spa and the cocktails at the thermal spa were incredible as well. Overall, incredible hotel, we can’t wait to return one day! "

"The staff was very helpful and informative. They make an amazing options for many for breakfast and coffee selection is superb including gourmet hot chocolate. Went out of the way to ensure comfort and feeling welcomes. Toasty wood fire at night on the open deck for all to enjoy while taking on the cloud forest views. "
