"The hotel is up the hill away from the madness of the beach and downtown areas, but still a 15 minute walk to the heart of Gavea and a 15 minute cab ride (download Uber or app called "99" before you go!) to Ipanema and Leblon. Everyone at the hotel is friendly and helpful. The breakfast each morning is superb, especially when the monkeys come and join you. The pool is small but the hot tub is great (you have to ask them to heat it up 40 minutes in advance, though, and they shut it down...

"A week ago we were reading online reviews, trying to figure out where to stay in massive Rio. It was a 3 night trip before traveling on, and we wanted an escape, proximity to the main sights, a beach, and uncover a gem. Jackpot in Casa Mosquito. "Absolutely great hotel in the center of Rio across from Ipanema beach. Gorgeous roof top pool with amazing views. Staff couldn’t be more helpful. Gero Restaurant may be my favourite for both food and service. Breakfast restaurant is also awesome. Top marks all round "

"The air conditioning in the room was on full blast and when turned off this causes damp in the rooms. The hotel should consider keeping all rooms at a temperature of about 21C to prevent problems with damp from the air conditioning units given the rooms are west facing and do not get much sunlight..this may be different for sea view rooms which would likely get more direct sunlight right through the day."

"Great place to be close to both Copacabana beach and Ipanema. Many dining options & shops are located within walking distance. The beds were comfortable, A/C worked well, and the room was quiet for sleeping. Amenities are a bit scarce - minimal towels, no conditioner, no wine opener, no extra cups. Breakfast was nice with fresh fruit, juices, breads, coffee, eggs. The best part was the friendly, helpful door man! Definitely would recommend!"
