"We loved this ryokan experience! It had everything we were hoping for. Dinner and breakfast were magnificent, the multi-course meals had us full and pleasantly surprised. We love the private onsen and yukata as well The staff here were super helpful and wanted us to have a nice stay. Most of them can help in basic English, but there were a few who you have to take out the translator for which was not a big issue"

Many art pieces decorate the hotel corridors, and it feels like you are transported to the past. A small tea ceremony in the lobby in the morning. This ryokan is worth the extra distance. I wish I could have stayed more than two nights!"

The owner was incredibly kind and welcoming, even showing us different local matcha varieties used during the meals. If you are visiting Kyoto on your trip to Japan, I would HIGHLY recommend staying at this property for the full Ryokan experience, equipped with a beautiful Onsen, Yukata, and local shrines in Ohara. 10/10"

"Very nice view of the lake. Very helpful staff. The rooms have a private onsen hot tub on the balcony. The rooms have tatami and are set up to sleep on the floor. You can request a bed frame to elevate the futon, but it's better to request a bed when making the reservation (although you may enjoy sleeping on a futon, Japanese style)."
