"Enjoyed staying here! Quiet and comfortable. I think it would be a lot easier to get around if stayed in Gora though. Also didn’t realize it was a shared bath (no shower/bath in room) but it was nice. There is also an additional fee you have to pay at the property for the bath (hot springs). "

"We arrived after dark via taxi and were surprised at the incredible location and architecture. This is an authentic Japanese experience— tatami floors and comfortable futon mats!! "Everything was very DIY but is clean and is nice to have your private space. The price is the best thing of it all for 1- 2 nights maximum. "

"The staff are very accomodating and very welcoming. They picked us up from and sent us to the train station for free. They offered us ( 5 people) a ride with a ¥2000 fee to lake kawaguchi. They also offered to pick us up from the Fujikawaguchiko masjid back to the guesthouse for the same rate later that night but they did not turn up . Instead, they told us to get our own taxi as they have picked up another customer. Luckily we got a help from the masjid cafe staff who called a taxi for us. We...

"We had a great stay at this property. The hostess was kind and helpful. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. The bath was clean and relaxing. The rooms were a bit cold this time of year, so I suggest starting the heater during the day while you are out to come back to a nice toasty room. The property is conveniently located with a beautiful vue on the lake from the front and Fuji-san from the back. I would definitely stay here again!"

"Loved the stay at Kounso. The room was spacious and had extra bedding that could be used to fit your preference. I was not sure about the shared bath, but each room reserves time slots, so you do not bath with strangers. I loved the cypress bath, it was perfect after a long day. I chose not to use the room heater because of the kerosene smell. Instead, the kotatsu table kept me plenty warm for this time of year. "I originally planned to say at a ryokan, but since I'm traveling during busy season they traditional ones were all sold out. I stumbled upon this property, and I'm so glad I did. I would recommend this property to everyone staying in Hakone. It's central, but more than that it's gorgeous. The garden itself is beautiful with cherry blossoms (during season) and koi fish. There's a hike to the Mt Fuji view which we didn't do this time. The staff member Park was absolutely helpful - she drew us maps to help us get to the Hakone Ropeway, and she drew us a map to get to our shinkansen early morning when we were checking out. There's an area where you can pour yourself speciality coffee drinks and juices out of a machine. Also the onsen experience was wonderful! We went both days during our stay. The hotel also gives you pajamas to wear and all the amenities you could need per day! 10/10 would recommend this place!!!"
