"This property is very charming and cozy. We (couple) stayed for three nights and simply loved the atmosphere. Every single detail, from decoration to amenities really well thought of. Parking is right in front of the unit, which makes easy loading and unloading. Property is located walking distance from restaurants and farmers market. Highly recommended."

"The rains definitely started to fall two days into our 3 day visit to Hilo and we desired to move from our relatively off-grid Hipcamp (which we loved!) into an actual hotel room with amenities. Dolphin Bay has been a bucket list hotel for me and sure enough, I checked Hotels.com to see if they had a room on the fly and they did! and one with a kitchen...PERFECT! Chrissy was so friendly and welcomed us and told us about things to see locally. The kitchen was immaculate and well set up. We were able to cook up a delightful gourmet dinner, wash and dry our laundry, I took a nice long bath annnnd I had Hallmark Christmas movies on almost the entire time...The rains just fell and fell outside the entire night and through the next day and it was soooo relaxing to just have the windows open listening to the rains and even thunder. Odie (I think his name is ) the kitty came in to visit us when my hubby opened the door. We love kitties and he is just a precious one; we welcomed him right in and he hung out with us the day of our checkout. The coffee and Banana Bread in the lobby was such an Amazing treat. We already had a reservation for another hotel on the waterfront just a few miles away so we checked with Katie in the lobby and she gave us the go ahead for a very relaxing Late checkout which worked perfectly to meet our reservation at the other hotel. She found out Kauai was on our itinerary and gave my husband some great info on places to visit. We love Dolphin Bay!"

"This is a very economical but charming place to stay. It has more of an Airbnb feel to it. The setting is quite wonderful. I think for it to be convenient it helped a lot to have a vehicle. Good small refrigerator, small microwave and a Keureg coffee maker, but not much else for food preparation and eating. I enjoyed the chickens. "

"The Thomas Guard house made it a memorable stay in Hilo, where we came for a special family celebration. There are four large upstairs bedrooms, plus one off the dining room and two on the lower floor where the children in our group slept. The large, open living room with its picture window was a magnet for everyone to be together. The entire house is welcoming and gracious, the kitchen is well outfitted, and the dining room is large and comfortable. Everyone was happy to be together in this very special place. "

"Very convenient spot to swim the turtles by driving for a few minutes towards the airport, a great breakfast with fruits and homemade cakes, overall a very good deal if you enjoy staying in a vintage building with a bit reduced comfort"
