"Excellent hotel. I have a gluten sensitivity and am also a diabetic on a blood sugar sensor. I am nearly impossible to feed. There were abundant gf options on the breakfast buffet, and I was also able to get a hot gf breakfast prepared for me. The omelets were delicious, and I could get a cappuccino every morning, all included. The wait staff was knowledgeable about gluten and kept me safe. I got a hot stone massage at the hotel spa. It was excellent, and inexpensive. In general, the hotel is beautiful, and architecturally interesting. My room was very comfortable, and the view from my room is in the hotel brochure. I highly recommend this hotel."

"Porta de Castro was a wonderful stay. The only thing is if you want quiet, the street it is located on is busy and quite a bit of honking. Didn’t bother me, popped in some ear buds at night. The breakfast and staff were amazing!!! I felt very welcomed and the staff helped me with any questions, plus lots of suggestions on what to do in the areas. Very convenient to walk to almost any place, including the train station. "

"The hotel was centrally located. It's a grand old building with beautiful marble decor and glorious chandeliers. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. The rooftop restaurant was a delightful fine dining experience at a good price. "

"I love this hotel so much I keep coming back. Located in a quiet area near the ocean, this newly rebuilt hotel is clean with a classy modern sophisticated look. The rooms are spacious, some come with swinging doors leading to a balcony. The restaurant serves a tasty breakfast and filling dinner in the evening with excellent professional service. The neighborhood is quiet at night and for the most part, safe. Only a 15 minute walk to the train/bus station and about a 10 minute walk to the center of town."

"Very clean and safe and walkable area. Staff Emiliano and Vino are always there to help and guide you when needed. Vino is very informative and knowledgeable about his area and eager to share with you. They are always approachable and meet any need you might have. The breakfast and view was great but the season I chose to visit had 2 days of rain so I would have like to enjoy the terrace some more without the rain. Breakfast was excellent. I realized that breakfast with bacon and eggs is just an American things and the rest of the world doesn’t do that haha. I did enjoy the Sicilian style of breakfast. Would definitely go again to this place "
