"HA-MON was excellent, fantastic friendly staff and owner. Only minor issue we had was that we did not realise we had booked a room without a private bathroom. Most rooms do not have private bathrooms, however, this was our fault for not reviewing the room details properly before booking. Other than that we were very happy with our stay. Thank you! ☺️"

"The positives: The staff were very nice, the shuttle drivers were great and the cabin was clean. It was peaceful and quiet. However, if we had known that the cabin was 2 km away from the hotel, we probably would not have stayed. I booked it because of its proximity to echo land. However, the cabins were located 2 km outside of town, and although there was a shuttle it would’ve been super helpful to have a car. in addition, the cabin was very cold. "I really enjoyed my time at Dark Horse. The owner and staff are warm and welcoming, and helped out in many ways, both big and small. Breakfasts and dinners were good and the lounge/dining room was a comfortable place to relax after riding. It was great value for the money. I would recommend it, and would stay there again without hesitation."

"Lovely staff who genuinely wanted us to enjoy our stay. Very comfortable beds in basic but clean rooms. Great common area with nice amenities. We felt very at home. While the location is great for skiing - lift is right across the street, it was very hard to get into town, to grocery, etc. "

"Our stay at Hakuba House was incredibly homely. Grant and his team are exceptional and went above and beyond to make our stay in Hakuba the best it could be. It was great to be able to come home after a day on the slopes and relax by the fire with a drink from the bar. Hakuba house is conveniently located near to shuttles and restaurants, and the staff were happy to drop us to dinner and make reservations for restaurants and Onsens. "

"For the price, hard to get better than this. I’m coming to ski for 3 days in the Hakuba area. If you are like me, read on. Easy things first, the bad thing, this ryokan is located on top of a small hill, the last 50-100meter you need to walk up a small hill, in winter snowy times when the road is layered with snow or even ice, hauling your ski equipment is no easy task, if you are coming with kids or like me arriving at night could be challenging, location on google map is correct but the walk...

"Had a wonderful stay. Amazing to be able to literally ski out the back door onto the piste. Friendly & helpful staff, good value clean with huge & delicious dinners (bit expensive!). 15 min walk from Tsugaike kogen bus stop (other Hakuba resorts + Nagano Station). Private barrel bath room was fun. Enough English spoken that basic communication was not an issue. Discounted lift passes. NB: Lodge takes cards but lots of places don't and NO ATM in village - BRING CASH!!!! Tsugaike kogen is great...
