"We stayed 5 nights... the location is good, but not superb. If you like to walk (we do), it's perfect... otherwise you'll be riding the bus to get to a train station. We walked most days to EMMACHI JR station and then connected to subway lines downtown - a 15min walk with kids. If you're headed to Arishiyama, EMMACHI or the green JR line both work with a short walk. Local markets around hotel are ok... but closest proper grocery store only opens at 10am and is pretty small.
